Traditional: The Battle Hymn of the Republic
Modern: God Bless the USA (the original version from the early 1980s)
There were also some interesting songs that came out after 9/11, but they're more specific to this era and not as timeless as the others. I also think that "God Bless America" would be a suitable alternative to our current national anthem, only because there's hardly anyone out there--professional or just average Joe--who can sing the Star Spangled Banner and have it sound truly good. It's not the sentiment I question, just the tune.

My favorite is Some Gave All by Billy Ray Cyrus I also like Courstesy of the Red, White and Blue (the Angry America), American Soldier both sung by Toby Keith. That is just a few that I love to listen to.

There are many outside of the US who find the obsession with "patriotism" (or nationalism to call it by another name) just a wee bit scary. Better to sing something like "give peace a chance"
