Musicians and dancers were always present.
The lyre was a stringed instrument originally made of a tortoise shell with anywhere from three to twelve strings. The lyre was played with a plectrum, or pick. Panpipes & flutes, and drums also used.
Greek Theater & Play Contests.
Greek Festivals. Theaters in towns were used for festivals, usually for a holiday or to honor a god. Dancing and drinking were important parts of festivals and celebrations. There too many regualr Greek festivals to actually include on here.
Greek Olympics and other various sporting events.
The ancient Greeks were huge sports fans. Every four years, the Olympic Games were held in the stadium at Olympia. The best athletes in Greece competed in different events that were a part of religious life.
Boxing, weightlifting, and the pentathlon which included discus throwing, javelin throwing, wrestling, running, and long jumping.
And chariot racing.
Playing board games and cards.
Achilles and Ajax and a game of ephisdremos,(Pollux IX, 119): "...they put down a stone and throw at it from a distance with balls or pebbles. The one who fails to overturn the stone carries the other, having his eyes blindfolded by the rider, until, if he does not go astray, he reaches the stone, which is called the dioros."
