Fifteen years ago my boyfriend killed himself. Although I am married now and have two children it still hurts like it was yesterday. The range of emotions when dealing with suicide is so vast. The anger and guilt are overwhelming. But the thing that gnawed away at me was- "how could he have been so desperately unhappy and I didn't know it? I saw him every day." I must warn you that sometimes you don't receive the support and sympathy that you need from the public because people think anyone that would kill themselves is a loser and you are better off without them.
I would suggest you talk to someone about your loss and encourage his girlfriend to do the same. I talked with someone (via phone) from the Survivors of Suicide organization. It is free. The people handling calls are family & friends of people who have commited suicide. They can understand your loss at the most raw level. And they will help you survive.

Well I am truly sorry for your loss. Are you sure this girl isn't just trying to block it out? I had a boyfriend die when I was 16, it was kind of a suicide he overdosed. Maybe she just thinks it is all her fault and feels as though she shouldn't cry in front of all of you, maybe she feels like you all hate her. Sit down with her, and talk to her about some good times you had with your friends she will open up then. But make sure that is what you really want.

I am so sorry for you and your friends. Suicide is a horrible thing to have happened. It effects everyone that was connected to the person. Your friend was obviously very troubled. It was about more than his girlfriend. He needed help to work through his struggles. His friend will probaly need help now because she is probably blaming herself. It might be good if all of your connected with this person sought some brief therapy to help you deal with the loss.

Good Luck.

Well, sometimes when someone dies it is a shock to them, and they don't really know how to react to it all. And sometimes it really hasn't set in on them so they will eventually show it. Or maybe she cries alone, so she can feel secure about herself and not feel like she is being watched all the time.

It may not seem real to her yet or she may be trying really hard not to show emotion. I'm Sorry about your friend.
