Everyone else who posted an answer is either a pothead or an idiot. Marijuana does not simply "kill" your brain cells like the people who posted would have you believe. So what exactly happens? Allow me to explain.

First of all, THC (the stuff that makes you high) is a natural insecticide that cannabis secrets in the form of all of those beautiful crystals that a chronic nugget has covering it. This allows the plant to reproduce without being eaten alive by aphids and other plant-eating creatures. This natural insecticide is also what gives marijuana its pleasant odor.

When you smoke pot, the THC is released by the heat into the air and absorbed by your lungs. The THC travels directly to your fat cells. This is why you get the munchies while you're smoking. Since the brain is 75% fat, THC is absorbed there and you get your head trip. The negative side effect to smoking pot is that it messes with oxygen intake in your brain and slows down your response time. This is why you feel loopy and forgetful.

If you continue to be a regular user, expect your short-term memory to worsen. Since you are impairing blood flow to the brain, some cells can die. Most of the cells that die can be replaced. You are only slowing the blood flow, not stopping it. Most of the short-term damage can be fixed without lasting side effects. Long term, you are looking at having the memory of a 70 year old.

In truth, alcohol is way, way worse for your brain than marijuana. Alcohol directly kills your brain cells and thins the blood. So why is pot illegal? A long time ago, white conservatives thought that pot made African Americans and Mexicans dangerous and aggressive. The truth is that it makes people fat, stupid and lazy. If you ask me, that's what being an American is all about.

Lightly smack yourself in the head. You have just killed the same number of brain cells as smoking pot. Do you feel different or suffer brain damage no.

THC is the chemical that causes the high feeling. To learn more go to these websites.

It makes you delusional into to thinking you think better with it than without it. Many feel it makes them more creative. Usually though this is just an illusion until they are straight and see how lame they were when they were high. Some people feel they can't survive the workday without being stoned enough to get through it. It does appear to have benefits for certain people suffering from some illnesses though.I would guess it interferes with your cognitive abilities.

it kills ur brain cells which is why it is also used to reduce pain of people who are in way too much pain to handle. when your brain cells die you communication from your brain to rest of your body slows down and eventually stops telling your other organs to stop working thus you die...
