lilnig, "underrated artist" does not mean "bad artist", it means "artist who doesn't get enough recognition" LOL

To answer the question I'd say Jason Mraz, Sam Roberts, stuff like that ;)

Laura Branigan. Her music was terrific, and her voice actually got better over time, one of the strongest singers of the 20th century. She had quite afew hits, but some songs are just overlooked such as Spanish Eddie.

Madonna is also underrated, she has single handedly paved the way for women in the music industry. as well as creating invovative pop music for over 20 yrs. Her Confessions on a Dancefloor album brang ppl's interest back to dance music which was dying out.

Listen to anyone of her albums and it is indicative of that time period. She, along with Janet Jackson also started the trend of remix albums. Yet madonna is underrated. she's often slammed in the press, and critacised by the music press.

The ones that aren't recognizable or some are not familiar with.

Jucifer
Bronski Beat
Xandria- if you've never heard them at all and are interested in the same genre as Lacuna Coil, check them out, especially their cd India! It rules.
Leaves Eyes- Legend Land is a must have
Machinehead
Zoe- now defunct, but I own her 2 hard-to-find cd's and she's really amazing as a solo female artist.
Symphony X
Alphaville
Einsturzende Neubauten- If you like Nine Inch Nails, I'd think you'd like them.
Alice's Inferno- Forever Slave is a effin great cd! Along the same lines as Evanescence, only harder.

Eric Johnson. By far Eric Johnson.

Listen to his "Cliffs of Dover". Absolutely crazy song. "Zap" is another great song of his.

I'd say he gives Eric Clapton a good run for his money. Definitely better than Jimmy and Jimi, they couldn't go on for 10-20 minutes straight on a solo.

Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, anyone who doesn't have talent in the music industry.

That would have to be Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. "Face Down" is SUCH an amazing song, and yet few people know about it.
