I was wondering what people's opinions are of the Pac-10 vs other D 1-A conferences. If you can, please back up your opinions with facts.

I'm only interested in football here, not other sports. In case you didn't know the Pac-10 teams, paired with their rivals are:
Arizona-Arizona State
Oregon-Oregon State
Washington-Washington State
USC-UCLA
Stanford-Cal (UC Berkeley)
I've sometimes wished that Fresno State was in the Pac-10 also, but their performance this year has snuffed that.

The Pac-10 is as good as any conference in the country. They all run Pro-style offenses and, like every year, they compete and win a lot of Bowl games because these other teams can't score with them.
Fact is, the SEC is the only conference that has good defense, but the offenses there can't throw, they only run.
Big 10, ACC, Big 12, etc., all don't have good defenses just like the Pac-10, but for some reason, this east coast bias against the west coast always comes out.

I'm not a big fan of the PAC-10 and feel like they get more credit than they deserve. Overall the whole conference can't play defense and just try to outscore their opponents. Besides the top 3 teams, they have a horrible non conference record against the other BCS conferences.
1. USC - best team in the conference for the past 4 or 5 years. They play a great non conference schedule. Might get a shot at the title again this year, if they win out.
2. Cal - Bad, bad, bad loss to Tennessee for the first game, but have played much better until today. Again, no defense. Will get a bowl game.
3. Oregon - Lucky win against OK, but I thought they would be much better this year. Again, no defense. Will get a bowl game.
4. Oregon St - Playing better than was expected. Bad loss to WSU, but GREAT win over USC!! Couldn't stop Boise St offense. Will get a bowl game.
5. WSU - will probably get a bowl game, but really not deserving.
Washington, Arizona and Arizona St all should have been better this year. I think the conference only gets 5 bowl bids.

Cal, USC and Oregon are all solid this year. UCLA has stunk for several years. The conference is the equivalent of any other college conference, including the Big 10, that anyone can argue for. This year the BCS might be two Big 10 teams, but that does not mean that Pac 10 is a bad conference. USC has been great the past couple of years. I live in Cal, but did not go to any of the Pac 10 schools.

Very good conference in my opinion, not a lot of defense played by any of the teams, then again they can outscore almost any team in the country 1-4.

One good team (USC) all the rest beat up on each other. Just like the Big 12 this year.

here's a fact. The big east and Pac-10 should never vie for a BCS title under the current system. They are weak conf.
