I have asked my brother before, because I thought maybe he was, and he denied it. Before and after I asked him, I asked myself, is it really important that I know? I just want him to know I love him regardless, which is what I told him. He is 38, and has never brought a girl home to family functions. He claims our family would embarrass him. I can't pinpoint why it's important to me to know, other than I love my brother and I want to see him happy and loved by someone special in life.

You sound like a really great sister, and if he is Gay, he will come out to you when the time is right.

I think if he wanted you to know he would tell you. If you 2 are close, the right time will happen and if he is gay he will tell you. I would suggest not to ask him again tho, if he is not ready to come out or maybe not ready to accept the fact that he is gay, you will only do more damage. Just reassure him that there is unconditional love from you and no matter what, there always will be. hope this helps.... and yes I am speaking from experience!

it's really a non-issue. you love him and respect him, thats the important thing. if he is he'll tell you when he's ready. just be patient and let him know if he ever needs you for anything you'll be there. confide in him about something if you want a subtle hint, but don't pressure him, coming out is a very personal thing. some men never do, it's an unspoken family open-secret, don't ask don't tell for the real world......good luck!

If you love your brother than why would it be important? Just leave it alone and stop asking him. One day he will either bring home a girl and you will know he is not gay, or he will bring home a boy and you will know he is gay. Would it really matter? God bless

I say it isn't. If you have a great realationship with him then he will tell you when he is ready. But, until then it is his business. Plus if you really love your brother it wouldn't matter if he is gay or not. He is still your brother no matter what.

It is important to me to know whether my brother is gay or not. But then, it wont change how i feel for him and i will support him no matter what.
the only difference that would happen is.. i wont introduce him to any of my cute guy friends... i have enough competition from my friends, i dont need another one from my bro!!! :)

No not at all...if it is..it's a shame that he feels he can't share his life with you...Often gay men end up like this --with really compartmentalized lives...you know their work friends, their family , their ordinary friends....because of the difficulties of coming out.

It shouldn't matter what his sexual preference is. What matters is what kind of a person he is.
If he is gay he will come out when he is ready, and not before.

Yes, because you're to him the only person who seems to be the most undersanding. If you know he is gay, you're the one who is able to help him through the ordeal and you wont be affected by it as the parents might be.

It's not important for you to know that he may or may not be gay, but it is important for him to know that you love him unconditionally and wouldn't care if he was or wasn't.
