300 m^2 = 0.0003 km^2...
A kilometer is 1000 meters. A kilometer squared is 1000^2 m^2 = 1,000,000 m^2. Look at it this way. Consider a square with each side 1 km long. That means each side is 1000 m long. What's the area of the square, in m^2? It's 1000 m times 1000 m = 1,000,000 m^2. So to convert from m^2 to km^2, divide by 1,000,000, to convert from km^2 to m^2, multiply by 1,000,000. Likewise, to go from mm^2 to cm^2, you'd divide by 100, because 1 cm = 10 mm, and 10^2 = 100. To go from m^2 to cm^2, multiply by 10,000; because, 1 m = 100 cm, and 100^2 = 10,000. And so on...

You convert squared units exactly the same way you convert them when they're not not squared. Just remember that m^2 means m*m.
To convert 300m^2 to km^2 you need to cancel the m's, so multiply 300 m^2 by 1km/1000m. This will leave you with 0.3 m(km), so you need to multiply by 1km/1000m again to cancel the final m.

If you have a conversion factor for the linear units, square it to derive the conversion factor for the squared units. For example, one yard equals 3 feet. The conversion factor from square yards to square feet is 3^2 which equals 9. One square yard equals 9 square feet.

Always create a multiplier factor, which is essentially multiplying by one in the form of units. For example 1 square yard = 9 square feet. So you can multiply: sq. yd.s * ( 9 sq. ft. / 1 sq. yd. ) = ( 9 * yards ) sq. ft. or sq. ft * ( 1 sq. yd. / 9 sq. ft. ) = ( sq. ft. / 9 ) sq. yd.s
