Can they not feel that they are burning and get out before it's too late?

Some insects are attracted to light. This is called phototaxis. These insects that are attracted to light are usually nocturnal, active at night. They use light sources for navigational purposes. When light is more intense in one direction, they turn and move in that direction. If the light source is somewhat enclosed, the insect may not be able to find its way out and therefore dies.

in my opinion, bugs do that because they are attracted to the light. I'll tell u a story. I live here in the philippines where there are lots of bugs flying around. One evening a bog hole appeared in the screen of my window. Big bugs came in although i didnt know what they are called probably moths or something. anyways they came into my room when i was studying because i had a lamp on and it was dark outside. I turned on the mosquito killing lamp, turned of my lamp, then closed the door. after about 20 minutes i came back and saw wings everywhere. There. really. bugs love the light. especially at night.

Bugs that do that, mainly things like moths are attracted to bright lights, which is why them lights were created. Think of it before the invention of the light bulb. Everyone used candles/camp fires for light. Well the moths even then would fly into the flame of the candle light or camp fire. Its just a baisic instinct for them to go towards bright lights.

Moths (especially) navigate by the moon. They get confused b/c a porch light for instance is relatively the same size (looking) as the moon. Therefore they run right into it. No they can't fly out before their *** fries.

Their brains are quite small. When you think about it there are probably some people you know who are just like that. Ever known a person who walks right into a big pile of sh*t? Everybody else sees it and walks around it but there is always that one person....

You give them too much credit. :)
The current belief is that they fly at lights becasue they are confused. They supposedly use the moon to navigate, the light tricks, them they fly at it.
