i am a popular girl and my friends can be so cruel to girls that arent are friends. i even find myself being mean sometimes! why can girls be so mean? i feel so bad! i mean you dont choose being popular. it just happens and i wouldnt say i would change it cause ive hung out w/ my friends since elementry and theyve always been so nice to me and were all really close but its not just us! you see it in all schools.
the uncool kids get picked on by the populars and make the populars look like total jerks. what is your opionion?

In order to separate themselves from the "uncool" kids, the popular kids make fun of them. This is a defensive mechanism that occurs when the "popular" kids are grouped together. None of the "popular" kids want to appear too closely related to the "uncool" for fear of losing their popular status.
If you find any of them separately with an "uncool" kid, you will not find the "popular" kid being so nasty. This is true with both the boys and the girls.
What I learned is that if you do not care about popularity you can be friends with both sides. I was friends with many of the most "popular" kids and just as many "uncool" kids. Be yourself and do not concern yourself with popularity.

Well, they cn be complete douches sometimes. They feel that they have the right to make fun of the lower social people (ie, smart people, honor rolls, etc.), and yet, the teachers somehow, just about 80% of the time, don't see it!
I fall into both classes (popular and unpopular), and the ratio of those two classes at my old school was about... 4:1. But now, at Rudder MS, the ratio is now, on the bus, 12:1, and at school, lunch especially, when they cut in line and don't get caught, 17:3!
That's nearly a triple!
So, in conclusion, I say that popular, douchebag girls have no sympathy ffor the others, and they think they can get away with anything.

Yes this is true everywhere. My daughter is in the 7th grade and this year it has started with her. She's in a group of 4 friends. They are smart, pretty and talented girls. They are not in the "popular" group, but some other girls farther down the line think that they are popular. It depends on how others see you. Her group is nice to everyone, and that's why they aren't in the "popular" group. I think it just makes them feel like they are better than everyone and really they aren't. It's cool to be rude in that age group. But, I do find that later, towards the end of high school usually the wheel turns. Usually it's the talented smart girls who end up popular and that's because the middle school popular girls have finally seen the light, or they've totally screwed up their lives. I hope that you are the one who sees the light.

well..the reason teen girls can be mean sometimes its because they are probably influenced by someone and thinks that that is the "coolest" thing to do...
I reckon that some cliques make some "rules" to follow and live off to...Lucky for you; you realize that this kinds of things are mean and hurtful...not to mention stupid.
Well; anyway after some groups make up their own rules, they sort of form an "elite" group that has their own thing.. and picks on people who they consider "lower" than them...
Honestly; some kids don't realize that this is all stereotypical and makes you realize how this stuff started!!! You guys probably think that those people who arent as alike as you are, are lower because they are different..Im not blaming you guys...this happens to every school. Believe it or not! most schools always have labels like "The popular one" "the dumb blonde!" its mean and hurtful to lable people!
Honestly; i think it would be great to hang with different people..whats the fun when you are haning with exact copies of yourself?? its kinda sad...=)
But seriously, we may never know how this whole "clique" things started. But it would be really awesome...If we were the ones who destroyed this...yes...destroy all discrimination..no one is lower than the other, we are just "different" and wouldnt it be also great if we hang around with all different people?
The bare truth is...only us can stop this...we should stop forming cliques and hang around with everyone! :)

Yeah I totally agree with you. Im 30 years old now and to this day I still think about how people were extremely mean to me. So mean that I almost couldnt take it anymore. Please Please dont be like that to anyone. It can destroy someones self esteem, self, confidence, etc...Its terrible to make someone feel awful. I always say that they wanted to make me feel awful, so they wouldnt feel so bad about themselves. Dont go along with your friends. I have 3 sons now and a daughter on the way and this is the one thing I ask them about everyday after school. Because if I ever find out they are being made fun of, or making fun of someone else I will be up at that school taking care of it immediatley. There is nothing I hate more.
