I would say let it be a surprise. That's what I plan to do when I am pregnant. While it might be nice to know in advance, imagine how exciting it will be in the delivery room when they say "Its a _____ !" and you meet him or her for the first time. Just buy lots of yellow and maybe 1 girl outfit and 1 boy outfit and bring them both with you to the hospital when she gives birth.

First of all congratulations! If I where you I wouldn't want to know the sex of the baby. It ruins the surprise. It would be more exciting hearing the doctor say "it's a boy or a girl" when the baby is born. I would much rather wait then know the sex of the baby cause when its born you already know what it is but that's my opinion. It's all up to you and your girlfriend to decide.
Good Luck and I wish you the best!!

Congratulations, Dean! You can be happy with the decision either way, but my biggest advice is that you agree. It never works for one parent to know and not the other, because somehow the beans are always spilled.

Personally, we found out for both. I loved knowing with my son, because I felt like I knew my child a little better by the time he was born. (I'm due in about 6 days with our daughter and expect the same result.) We already have her name picked out, and talk about her like she's really here with us. Which she is. When my son was born, because of how he moved inside me, I really felt I knew him, and knowing his name and gender ahead of time really settled that in. I LOVED the detail of preparation I could put in, and really enjoyed shopping for stuff, for both kids, knowing exactly what to expect. I loved all the cute overalls, truck stuff, sports stuff for my son. And I have a huge collection of pink for my daughter. And I have enjoyed getting all that so much.

Also, from a practical point of view, it's easier to think a little ahead if you know the gender. Although it's fun to have unisex things when they are super tiny, I really like dressing my son as a boy, and will love dressing my daughter like a girl in a few months. It gets harder to buy practical unisex clothes as they get older. Knowing the gender made it easier for people to buy us stuff for later on. It's nice to have a good supply of clothes and stuff for 6, 9 and 12 months right away, because people stop buying you presents pretty quick. We have received larger sized items for our daughter, as we did for our son, which will take a financial burden off us later on. Because they do grow super fast!

Anyhow, that's what's worked for us. But either way, you will be happy. Just enjoy it whichever way you decide to go...

With my first child, I wanted to know, but she would not reveal herself. It was hard shopping and getting ready when I didn't know. With my 2nd and with this pregnancy I was able to find out that I was having boys and it has made thing so much easier as far as getting ready and picking names.

Its a personal choice that only you can make. You have to do what is right for you.

Well you can always ask the person who does the ultrasound to write down what you are having but not to tell you and if you and your girlfriend decide you want to know you can call up the doctor and request what it is.

Go to hijosalacarta.tripod.com website English section. It is the only one gender selection method (just discovered) that really works but it is to use before woman is pregnant.
