think its cool to dress up like neo- drag queens, call themselves emo/punk/rock/alternative and make half-baked lyrics. Jeez, I was just watching MTV and this question popped into my head: where does this come from? when did it get so messed up? Kurt was trend setting, this stuff is just nutz.

and yes there will always be black people with gold in their mouths, regga-ton ( or whatever the heck those people call it), and virtually no asians in English speaking music?

when the heck did it ever get so bad.....?

"Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star..."

The very first video on MTV started the unraveling of our minds as we know it.

Of course Kurt was there to help the process but there were others along the way who were the real cataylsts in the explosion being real or simply drawn.

Sure, Kurt was one of the first to glorify all the stuff MTV has come to stand for today but what about the mind of Mike Judge? "Frog Baseball" to "Choke" really set MTV on it's way.

Then MTV started marketing to teenage girls. This was when it really went downhill.

First came the introduction of TRL. 10 30-second clips of the most overplayed music videos out there at that second was the pinnicle of the world for 12 year olds who's ancestors had brought down KISS and cut Bill Gibbon's beard in the middle of the night. Then came the introduction of reality shows, mainly being "The Real World". Then came all the on-and-off shows that the producers came up with like all the challenge series and most notibly "Laguna Beach". MTV was doomed from the first episode.

After the start of "Laguna Beach" everything started to come apart. MTV's site crumbled and split in 2 with the virtual destruction of their community section now with the reorganization of it's site. Not to mention "My Super Sweet 16" had the ever-so-slightest effect on b****es around the world.

Now you have what you see today: multiple channels just ready to implode. As numerous as the fan base of MTV may be it can easily be taken down. Just get the House and Congress involved in what's going on with the frequent viewers of MTV and they're in for a rude awakening. Not to mention all it takes is one band these days to make a difference. I know this and already have my plan ready to reinstate common sense and a normal thought process in my generation.

It's just sad that we have this mess to clean up now.

It seems like our society has gotten to the point that a lot of people believe that the more immature you act the more mature it makes you. Everybody wants to prove they are independent by doing something different so they all act the same to prove it. Weird.

Emos scare me...anyway you pretty much said everything except you forgot, "There will always be beautiful women degrading them selves in rap videos"

i guess there will always be black women who accuse everyone of "racism" and use it as an excuse for their shortcomings and constantly moan about how awful it is, yet openly practice it themselves.

you could have said "there will always be singers or pop stars" but instead you specifically targeted white men.

i agree that it's a lame trend and never cared for it myself, but think about this.

without us dumb white men, you wouldn't have a tv to notice this trend or a computer to gripe about it.

It's sad that music today is limited to race. I am a white rapper, and I am still trying to convince people I'm not like K-FED or EMINEM.
