I don't give a hoot who you voted for. I just want your reaction to this statement.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The Republican establishment, the Republican elite, is quietly supporting those candidates and ideas they think should be encouraged. They are thinking about whom they will back in '08. But they're not thinking of this, most of them, with the old excitement. Because they sense, in their tough little guts, that the heroic age of the American presidency is, for now, over. No president is going to come along and save us, and Congress isn't going to save us. Events will cause a reckoning, and then we'll save ourselves. And in this we will refind our greatness." -- Peggy Noonan (written before the election)
Some good responses so far. Of course, the usual mix of cretins had to to get into the act too.
Our greatness lies in the beginning of the Declaration of Independence that ALL men are created equal and deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. Our leaders forgot that concept in the need to forge power for themselves and this nation. Other nations were sold out to brutal puppet governments for the sake of our prosperity and security, but in the end, they sold our security for greed, for power, for corporate interests, because people everywhere will fight for their freedom against all odds and all costs no matter how horrible. We are living now in the "reckoning". Continued hypocricy will destroy us. When America wakes up, we will save ourselves, and in that saving, will again be a great nation based on the enlightnement of our founders.
This is quite a profound quote.
I don't know if I can totally agree, because another Ronald Reagan or JFK could well be over the horizon - and, if that's the case, "the heroic age of the American Presidency is, for now, over" would prove to be false.
A great leader can unite us and refind our greatness - I have always believed this.
absolutely everyone who says "you at the instant are not the suitable until you circulate to the WWE" is a f*cking fool. i will call countless wrestlers interior the international not in WWE that are 10x greater effective than over 0.5 of the WWE roster good now. Austin Aries, Chris Hero, Davey Richards, KENTA, Kota Ibushi, Shingo, AJ varieties, Samoa Joe, Desmond Wolfe, Christopher Daniels, homicide, Mistico, Motor city gadget weapons, The Briscoes, youthful greenbacks/era Me, Dragon toddler, Colt Cabana, etc.. Can absolutely everyone truthfully say with a immediately face say that the WWE roster is super? Can absolutely everyone truthfully say that a roster with Sheamus, The Miz, super Khali, David Otunga, Vladimir Kozlov, Mark Henry, Hornswoggle, John Cena and Randy Orton is super? i don't care in the event that they have Chris Jericho, part and CM Punk, the WWE roster good now as an entire is unquestionably destructive. WWE isn't the suitable advertising interior the international and that i don't understand how absolutely everyone ought to declare they're. WWE has a number of the worst wrestlers interior the international good now (super Khali and Mark Henry are 2 examples). and to not point out the reality that WWE would not care on the subject of the midcard titles. that is a shame what the IC call, the Tag group titles, and the U.S. call have become over the final 5 years. they're in certainty meaningless. WWE marks/fanboys supplies you me as many thumbs down's as they want yet i don't provide a sh*t. BQ: puzzling to come to a decision on through fact they're all super tag communities, yet i think of i will circulate with the The Briscoes.
The heroic age for any president is over. America is too polarized. If a Dem is Pres, half will hate him. If a Rep is pres, the other half will hate him. It doesn't look good for us
Yes, very true and I think Americans from both parties or no party realize this somewhere deep down inside themselves.
