To set up an audition, go to the club and directly speak to the manager, OR call and ask when auditions are. Most clubs have open auditions once or twice a week. If they tell you to audition at "amatuer night", try another club, I've never heard of anyone getting hired at these.
Once you're hired, you will need a lock for your locker and at least two pairs of platform heels (an extra incase one breaks -- it happens). Be sure to ask at hiring if there is a minimum heel height. If this is not a fully-nude club, you will need two or more pairs of g-strings. Dancing g-strings are different from what you find in retail stores, so ask the other dancers where they can be bought locally, or look online. Pasties or liquid latex if required. I recommend having at least two costumes with matching garters...Don't invest until you're sure you are keeping the job. A tube top and skirt will work well for your first week. Baby wipes, extra makeup, tissues, and a brush should be kept in your locker.
Good luck.

I've been a DJ in clubs for 3 years. The competition for girls is fierce, so remember that you have the leverage. You should first check out places that have an "amateur night". Amateur nights are not for customer appeal; they are really a recruitment tool for clubs to get new potential dancers in the door. Take advantage of that and use it to take a "test drive" in a club. It's best to check a place out first and get an idea of the vibe (and how well you'd fit in that vibe). From there just show up close to opening time (if it's a night only place) or during the day shift and ask to talk to the manager... pick his brain. Some clubs will not require an audition, some will. Sometimes to help you get started girls will loan you clothes. A thong or flattering panties, high heels, matching/revealing top, and something lacy to wear over the top should be enough to get started, but you'll want to invest in your wardrobe as you continue. Be aware if this applies that many clubs are very reluctant to hire African Americans... mostly because the perception that African Americans either don't bring in customers or bring in what managers consider a bad element. Don't let that discourage you. Remember that you don't dance for yourself... you dance for the 40 something white guy, because generally he's the guy with money. Oh and always take care of the DJ, because a good DJ makes more of a difference than you know. Good luck!

Find a reputable club, call and ask if they are hiring(they will be!) set up an interview where you will have to dance for them, if you are hired you will need costumes, thongs, high heels..you know stripper stuff, once you are there for a while other girls might share their outfits but that is pretty rare, jewelry, make-up....the list goes on and on!
