It could solve many of the problems marriage is facing. It could improve sex lives of men and women by providing more variety. It would be easier financially, since it is cheaper to live in a group. It would be better for the environment, and there may be less children, since people can enjoy family life without having their own biological children. Shared child rearing would better support professional careers; some men and women would find it easier to become full time homemakers without working outside; and children would be cared for better with multiple adult role models.

I would like to remind everyone that this is not a new idea. Tribal societies practiced group marriage for thousands of years. Nuclear family and love between two adults are relatively new concepts in human history.

Oh yeah!!!! This sounds great until one pair becomes more deeply in love than the other couple(s) and then they want to be exclusive to each other.

Or maybe someone gets insanely jealous of another person being with their "love" and that would probably end up in fights or arguments.

Then there is the issue of children, nobody will agree about how their child gets treated.

One hellava idea you came up with dude.

Well, i must admit you provide some convincing points there. But polygamy is wrong. Its dividing your love among too many people. Love should be reserved for very few people. ONE of which you marry. Otherwise, there could be alot of trouble with favoritism, depending on the ratio of guys to girls in this "group marriage." And honestly I think it would just be harder. With a group of only two people, interaction is MUCH more intimate and the relationship is stronger, and less easily broken. But with more than two, it gets a ton less intimate and the relationships are easily broken. So what they say is true, two's company, three's a crowd.

no, marriage is meant for a man and a woman, and children are meant to have two parents. although i believe that gay couples can make better parents than mnay of the straight couples out their with children they don't care about, i don't think it would be at all healthy for a child to have a group of parents. and marriage wouldn't mean the same thing in a group, it is supposed to be a commitment of trust and loyalty between two people. how can you have that kind of love when your partner and you are sleeping with different people?
