My Mother the Car. w/Jerry Van Dyke (Dick's younger brother)
Yes, I jest. You didn't say series or made for TV movie. But Lonesome Dove was really outstanding both in actors and writing.
For series: Sopranos and Deadwood were above average I thought.
Black and white: the first Andy Griffith series when Opie was about five yrs. old.
I know you were hoping for Dallas or 90210.
Can't forget The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart, doin' Gods work.

Past: Hill Street Blues
Current: Nothing - there's a bunch of garbage on TV. I like Seinfeld, but that's in syndication, and I'm not sure that would qualify as "current".
