I was listening to someone on the radio who is going around the world recording the stories of people who survived the Holocaust. Many of them were children or teens in concentration camps like Dachau, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. The interviewer was concerned that these people are dying out and the Holocaust will soon become just another story in the history books. Even though there have been and continue to be genocidal actions in various parts of the world, the Holocaust was the first well documented intentional mass murder of millions of people and I doubt that most of us will ever think about it with anything other than horror.
There are many people who try to disprove that it ever happened, but the mass of evidence is against their theories. The near-extinction of European Jews took place in a mere 7 years which is another reason why it's so horrifying. By contrast, it took Europeans over 250 years to accomplish the same thing with the native people of North America.

I believe it was a horrible time and I feel deppressed whenever I think about it. With their dreams and hopes demolished and no way out. It just prooves how some humans hate people that are different in their eyes. It also prooves how much people would go just to get what they want...even when it costs so many tortourous deaths and people's lives.

God forgive me, but I think it should have happened to Hitler instead, and I don't understand why "someone" didn't "do" something to "him" long before the Holocaust! So pathetically sad and unnecessary...God rest their souls.
