My family and I are wanting to relocate to the U.S to be with relatives. However, the only way I know is get a working visa so we can stay in the US longer but temporarily (we don't want to get permanent residency at this stage). To get a working visa though, an employer should sponsor us. I know it is usually easier for nurses or IT Professionals to get sponsorhip, I am a finance professional. I've been to monster.com but no success so far.

Any suggestions on the best way (or agent?) to get an employer to sponsor me? Or any other way to get a temporary residency besides a working visa? I am from Aus.

Thanks!

Good and interesting advises so far! Tnx.

Just a couple of things, I have been to the U.S last month for a visit and loved it. If we get our family to sponsor us, it will take ages because I am over 21.

look for a job with a multi-national corp where you live now, and ask to be transferred to a USA office? Hotels are good for that. Hyatt, etc.

I understand where you are coming from. I have been in both kind of long term relationships and the sharing I was able to do with the one who was reading a lot, was academically at a certain level - as a overall I enjoyed that more. However he was also a incredible person, caring, open, loving, trustworthy and all the other good stuff. I enjoyed that I could learn and advance with him, studying and reading the same things and have days of discussions about it. However - if you need food for your thoughts - you can also get that outside your house if you need to. And if he writes something and makes mistakes - don't put him down, correct him gently or let it go. If you love him and he is a good person - than take him with what you see as fault. Everybody is different and while some people will read and discuss things, the others are there fixing the leaking roof. So you need to find out what is more important to you and what you want to base your life on. Good luck

Well I just married one!

A working visa is probably your only choice, to enter the US on any other kind of visa and the "decide" you want to stay and work after that point is usually considered fraud by the INS, and they'll deport you. If you have relatives here THEY can sponsor you.

If you like Australia you'll love the US, though you'll miss the weird wildlife, and they only have a couple poisonous snakes here!

Good luck.

Monster is bad if you have a bad resume. Hundreds or Thousands of other people apply to same job. I am assuming you have a college degree. If you dont, try getting a student visa and then applying for a job here after you graduate.

Back to your resume, it needs to stand out. Get it redone professionally.

Apply for work with the IRS!!! or with the white collar crime unit with the FBI. with your background (as well as being bondable) u should be able to get those jobs. then your "green card" wouldn't be an issue.
