I have a best friend who's of the opposite gender... I don't talk to him much, but he's been around for so long that he's now my best friend... Also, he's funny! :-)

Yes. I have a female and male best friend. Females we can joke around about pms and men. Male best friend I can get his advice on what guys like.

I think you've got it right.
I can express my feelings better to women friends.
Guy friends are better to goof around and talk sports to. They seem to be more available when the chips are down.
