Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. Unpretty by TLC. Love by Keyshia Cole, it's more rejection than loneliness. Numb by Linkin Park. Emotions by Destiny's Child. I can't remember the title but it's off of Beyonce's Crazy in Love album. Aaliyah's I Don't Want to be Alone. Usher's Can You Help Me. Cheryl Crow's The First Cut is the Deepest. Britney Spear's song where she is committing suicide in the tub, and Stephen Dorff plays her boyfriend in the video. N'Sync's Gone. JT's Cry Me A River, although it seems like revenge, it was one of those songs that had loneliness written all over it, you know. Think about how he was stalking her, so he was depressed because she cheated on him, but he was also more upset because things didn't work out like he thought it would or that she made things seem like they would be okay but they weren't. Just my perception of it, haha.

Two of the songs I recommend are:

"Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence
&
"May it Be" by Enya

These may not work for you but these do exhibit a kind of sadness and other associated feelings of being 'lost' in the world. Good luck on your project by the way.

The song that "kissmybum" is talking about is called "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian, it's about a girl that doesn't get dates and stuff like that!
