I'm sort of glad and yet sad. Because this year I'm dorming with 3 other guys. And my Roommate is gay. He's a really nice person. Now I know I'm gay, but I'm not out. I would love to just talk to him about it, because he is out and is comfortable with It, at least I think. Now the thing is I don't look like typical gay man, well at least in my eyes. I'm only aroung 5'4 and stocky build, while he's tall, toned and skinny. I keep having this fear that if I say something people will look at me funny and treat me different. I would like to tell him, so I could talk to him, bu I don't know if he would accept me.

So any advice on what to do?

Are you worried that he won't believe that you're gay or that he won't be sexually attracted to you?

Dude, if you tell him you're gay, I'm sure he'll believe you. That doesn't mean he'll be attracted to you or want to hang out with you socially. But you never know. Most gays have been where you are and if this guy if halfway decent, he'll at least let you go hang out with him a couple of times so you don't have to go out the first time on your own.

Either way, you'll be happier out, so stop hesitating and take the next step.

How does the typical gay male look? Is there a difference in things like 3 arms or 12 legs?

Really it does not matter at all. I don't look like the typical lesbian. People say all the time, "why I did not know you were" . You don't have to be the limp wrist that Hollywood makes out. Some of the butch-est males I know are Bears.. gay males that like leather... and then I know some that have such a high voice that it hurts my ears.. So I think like all people there are many many different kinds of us.

There is no logical reason why he wouldn't accept you,he is also gay. There is nothing wrong with you and when you do decide to come out there will be people who do and don't accept your life style.Which is true for anyone regardless of sexual preference. There is always somebody who is going to look down on you for whatever reason, you just need to decide whether or not you will allow it to affect you personally.I think you should definately talk to him.Good luck!

This late in the semester, I'll assume you've gotten to know him some and he's a decent guy. He's been where you are, and he'll get it unless he's a total asshole (which, if you know him, you already know if he is or not). You could start just asking him about when he came out, and steer the conversation some.

This is the problem with living in the closet. You miss out on any support or sense of community you might otherwise have.

If you trust this guy though, find a time to talk to him 1 on 1. He may be helpful.

It's great you have found your true self.
I think sharing rooms will enable conversation to flow in the near future. Maybe when you are both alone would be a great time to bring up the subject. You will know when it is right.

he's gay himself, so of course he'll accept you. eventhough he's out, he still has the same fears you do about being gay. he'll understand. just talk to him, i think he'll he happy to klnow that he's rooming with someone else whose gay, that way he wont feel like he's making anyone uncomfortable. When you're ready, you can start telling others too. it's hard though, so just be carfull with who you tell.

If he's generally friendly towards you, keep making friends and get to know him better, then you can be more open with him. You should maybe make it clear that you're not hitting on him, though, and that you just want to talk.
You don't have to come out to anyone else if you don't want to.

If you don't WANT ANYONE TO KNOW YOU ARE GAY???? that is something you may want to keep secret...because you said you weren't OUT>>>>dO THEY THINK YOU ARE STRAIGHT????OR WHAT??? since you are not ready to be OUT, I WOULD JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT...quote....less is best!!!but hey, you can ask them questions if you want for your information if you'd like...not real personal ones though...
