For the color, check in your graphic card properties, and for the sound you need to plug an audio wire in your output sound card to the tv

I had the same problem, I was told that there's some option that u need to activate from normal output to composite output. It's supposed to be in ur graphic card options. I figured out the problem by buying a cable that goes direct from s-video to scart.

You do have a graphic card don't you...

Control Panel:
Apperience and Themes
Display
Display property
Monitor
Now see what you can change here to get it to TV...

get rid of that and get an s-video cored
if you have a jack for it on you laptop and make sure the TV has one too
