It is easy to do with expensive tinker toys called molecular modelling kits.

I would suggest ditching the Tinker Toys in favour of Zoobs, which are perfect for the job. Whilst you can make many other things with Zoobs, they were originally based on the component bases of DNA and the larger kits come with instructions for making a double-helix.
