i ahve a 92 lincoln continental and i heard that u can sue transmission fluid for the power steering and also my power steering linksk alot in one day it would drain completely and what could make it drian and can i use transmission fluid as a subsitute only serius answers PLZ

yes ford does call for tranny fluid in both applications. The steering and tranny can use a dexron tranny fluid. Ford used to use type tranny fluid for the steering then they switched to dexron.

If it leaks alot..then most likely your pressure hose is leaking. this is easy to figure out just have someone turn the steering wheel with the engine running and look at the hoses. You will see a steady stream of fluid coming from it. It is also possible that your front seal is leakng...but since you say fill it daily...I'd say a hose.

To answer the other part...yes transmission fluid is acceptable in the power steering

You can use trans fluid but it has to be MERCRON II type fluid. You should fix the leak though as it's going to get expensive putting that much fluid in everyday.

Yes, they are essentially the same. You can use it. But get the leak fix. There is no point in wasting money on oil and polluting the environment.

no you should not use atf its not the same consistincy and if it leaks have it replaced
