it really wasn't that big of a deal at my school. Once half the people left halfway. It was just like any other dance. Besides, getting ready for it was more fun than actually going. But definetely go senior year.

I really enjoyed the homecoming dances in highschool. My homecomings were allways themed and decorated tacky :) But Its your one night to look amazingly beautiful and be the princess of the ball! I'd say give it a try next year and if you dont like it... dont go again. Also you said you dont have a group of friends to go with, If you can bring friends from other schools even your bestfriend just to have fun with and not make it such a "couples" event. About the dress I've found some really cool dresses at vintage shops and also if my friends had older sisters I would borrow their dresses because ... lets be honest spending 100 dollars on a dress for one night can be out of alot of peoples budget! Good luck hope u give it a try so u know what it's all about :)

Homecoming is what my daughter expressed as primetime. This is a highlight when you are in high school. Make the best of it. I was always on the homecoming court. I was not choosen just my sophomore year in school as dutch. I still had a lot of fun and went to the dance the next day. This is one of those times during the school year when everybody at the same school is like family. This is when you really represent your school. Don't sit back and wish you'd done more, totally enjoy.

The origins of Homecoming came from the early days of our nations history. When young men would go off in the militia to fight either native Americans or other enemies, the loved ones they left behind would have elaborate celebrations upon their return home.

Since they were warriors, just like our football hero's of today, we kept the tradition alive by calling the first home came after the first away game the Homecoming game. The warriors are returning home. Hopefully victorious.

I don't know what the big deal is. It's just another school event. I guess it is popular because it says who is the most popular or not.
