1985 I think Plymouth Reliant KCAR

Well since you are driving a 1985 K car, you are lucky if you have any brakes whatsoever.

The front of your car is equipped with brake rotors and pads while the rear brakes are equipped with drums and shoes.

As cars have become faster, it was found that the drum brake system was inefficient to slow the car in a reasonable amount of time. Drum brakes were known to fade or become ineffective when they got hot.

The design of the disc brake system has a rotor that has cooling fins integral to the rotor to reduce the heat and keep the brakes from fading. On an automobile with disc/drum set up, most of the stopping is done with the front with the remainder done with the back.

They are disc, in the early 70's the practice of putting disc brakes on the front became the standard.
