What the difference between jews and caucasians? They're both white. Why are they referred to seperately?

...sometime? To me, it's like saying Egyptians and Africans. There's no difference. And this question is not meant to offend anyone.

Judaism is a religion, not a race.

However, due to the persecution that has persisted since the time of slavery in Egypt, Jews tend to keep a fairly close community, so many physical traits have become prominent, making people think of them as a separate "race."

Well, Jews are not a race, that's for sure, and I'm quite sure that they are not referred separately from Caucasians, Blacks and Asians, as there are Jews all over the world and with all colours.

Judaism, in addition to being a religion, is an ethnicity and a nation too, as most of the Jews are originated from the same place- Israel (or Palestina, or Canaan, or whatever you call this area).
After the Diaspora of Babylon, Jews had to emigrate to all different parts of the world, and there are communities of Jews in Europe, Asia, America, Australia and Africa, when the Jews look like the natives (after long long years among them) but differ from them genetically.
Thus, while a Jewish Russian man and a native Russian man look all alike, the Jew has this little tiny gene that all Jews around the world share.

Saying that is like neglecting the whole diversity of the human race by dividing everyone in black and white: it doesn't work that way. Originally Jews belong to the semite people, which include (and correct me if I'm wrong) all the eastern asian people. There are a lot of 'white' Jews, but there are light brown Jews too, and black ones, since races tend to mix and diversify.
I believe, but also am not sure, that most northern african people stem from the semites too, so actually there is a difference between an Egyptian and Africans. Egyptians are grouped amongst the northern african countries and people from these countries are usually light brown, rather than black, but I'm greatly generalising here.
I'm afraid most people are offended if you compare them to people they are similar to. I could say that Americans and Canadians don't differ too much, which is true from an African or Asian point of view, but not from a Canadian point of view.

And of course you could say that all people are alike, having two legs and arms and a head with hair, and loving their children, but strangely there are a lot of people who seem to disagree with me on that :)

All Jews are not white, though the vast majority in America and Europe are. There are African and Asian Jews as well, and not just by recent conversion.

Strictly speaking, Judaism refers both to a religion and a blood kinship group -- an extended tribe if you will, that shares a common very narrow ancestry. Jewish distinctiveness within European societies has been accentuated over the centuries because they, more than many other white ethnic groups, seldom married non-Jews. This practice has changed in the US, with so many Jews marrying non-Jews that the number of "pure" Jews has been falling for years in the US.

And because Jews have been treated as non-white in many contexts throughout much of recorded history, and are still considered not to be white by many white racists, they are still sometimes referred to as a distinct ethnoreligious group in America.

Actually, Jews originated in the Middle East. Nowadays, I think most of the Jews you see today look white because they intermixed with other races so much. There are even Chinese Jews- ETHNIC Chinese Jews- in Tibet, and they look Chinese.

For some reason, a lot of people throughout history don't like Jews- the Roman Catholic Church (the one from the Middle Ages, not the Church today), most Arabic nations, Nazi Germany... the list goes on and on. So the distinction, I suppose, is because of their religion and way of life, and also because of certain physical features, like a prominent nose.

Strict Judaism forbids intermarrying with people outside the faith. Over thousands of years, this has led to a steroetypical Jewish genotype. When you refer to people who are Jewish, you are referring to people who prescribe to a particular Religion . You are incorrect when you say Jews and caucasions are the same. There ane Jews who are Black and Asian as well. Also, the African Continent is comprised of many races and nations. South Africa is inhabited by Blacks and Whites.

This depends on whether you think Jews are a racial group or a religious group. Note that Jews can be white, black, hispanic, or whatever. There are Chinese Jews. Not all Jews are white.

it has mostly to do with religeous beliefs from biblical times. the jews do no believe that christ was their savior. only a profit. because of their disbelief theyve been widely persecuted by christian relegions. if you were in isreal you would see that the jewish people are in fact not white. jesus was not a white man, the bible says he had bronze skin and hair of wool. he was a dark man. christians because of their racism portayed him as a blonde haired blue eyed white man. in short because of the persecution of jews, white or otherwise, white christians make it clear that they are not jews. and there was a time when jews would hide the fact that they were jewish to avoid persecution. in short you are either of a christian faith or your a jew.
