im freeked out by the munchkins, way more scary than the witch

You were freaked out by the Munchkins and the Wicked Witch of the West? I would say the creepiest thing about the Wizard of Oz was the Flying Monkees. Those damn things gave me nightmares for weeks!

It is pretty creepy. When I was a kid, we'd wait all year for it to come on -- no cable or DVDs. I would sometiimes have dreams about the Wicked Witch.
The book is much less creepy in that way. The witch is a comic figure.

That is why many religious groups have tried to ban it. They feel the characters are from witchcraft. It's because they are afraid there own beliefs aren't strong enough. It is a joke.
The same groups are trying to ban the Harry Potter books and movies.
