What happens to unsold copies of monthly magazines? Is there a way to get them for cheap?

If a newsagent, for instance, is unable to sell all of the magazine stock they have purchased they sell it to other retailers at a very low price or in bulk by weight. These retailers then sell all of these back issues to the public very cheaply.

you can get them for free if you ask the seller. They send the barcode back to the publisher for their refund and chuck the magazine. They probably won't give them away though - like how they throw bread away and hose it rather than letting the homeless eat it.

They are returned to the publisher who usually recycles the paper by selling them to a recycler.
