We have dinner at my parents but contribute plenty to the menu so about 2-3 weeks before I look at recipes to see if there is anything new I want to make.
I'll do my grocery shopping this week. Last week we ordered the ham.
I'm sitting down tomorrow to look through my Christmas candy and cookie recipes :) I bake a ton at during the holidays.

It takes me three days to get everything ready so by thanksgiving morning I'll only have the small stuff to do like pies and salad. I prep the turkey the night before (which means cleaning and seasoning) and sit it in the fridge. I get up that morning really early and take the turkey out and let it sit for about an hour before I put it in the oven. And the rest is history, especially after I have a drink or two.

Since on Thanksgiving we are going to have dinner at my breeder/mentor's house, all my dogs will be outside with her dogs. She lives next door. I'll keep an eye on them to make sure that no one gives them anything to eat. We usually don't buy any holiday plants since the dogs have access of the whole house until we put up the baby gate after we setup the tree. Have a safe Thanksgiving everybody! P.S. prepare for some pet emergency questions during or after Thanksgiving.

About two weeks. This is an important holiday for my family and we need to have a lot of space for all of us. But actual cooking prep is only three days before.
