just yesterday
we were in a thrift shop (near gramercy park)
and though the things there weren't so great, i did overhear an interesting byplay...
an older couple (well-dressed) were looking closely at a painting hanging near the door ($25)...of a simple barn and rolling hills
and the woman was frowning and saying: "but where would we PUT it?....it doesn't really go with anything we have, does it..."
and i felt bad for the old guy who probably just wanted to have something to look at that was peaceful and open...unlike what i imagined his marriage to be...

did you know that the ceos of the salvation army/goodwill industries have salaries of over $million/yr.?
they're able to get paid like that
because everything they sell, they get free

Always! I used to buy clothes at thrift stores all the time, you can make some great finds there. I also collect elephants, and I've found a lot of my collection at thrift stores and flea markets :)

I only buy things from Thrift Stores.
Why spend money on new crap - people barely wear clothes before giving it up anymore. Also, you find some really cool crap there.
