Not having the money to deal with any kind of crisis. The poor don't have health-plans or any type of insurance for their house/possesions or against unemployment.

Not having the money to move somewhere else in the event of a crisis.

No money to invest in their own education.

At an international level, hard-hearted financiers might say that poor countries are a financial-burden on the richer ones, as they require aid-money and sometimes aren't able to repay loans.

Environmentally, people in poor countries may be forced to do damaging things to the environment, just to scratch a living, such as cutting down rainforest to make room for crops or hunt endangered species for their meat.

Poverty increases the amount of warfare and conflict, as people squabble over land and resources. Africa has ongoing wars and skirmishes over oil, diamonds and land that have killed millions. Poverty, Hyper-inflation and unemployment in pre-war Germany was a major cause of world-war II.
