Why do you go shorter when you get old? how do you just shirnk? what shrinks & why?

The discs between the vertebrae shrink, through compression and loss of fluid, leading to curvature of the spine and actual physical loss of height.

The bones themselves DO NOT SHRINK despite what others say, but the cartilage at the joints does wear out

Gravity takes effect by condensing your vertebrae. Backs tend to curve. Osteoarthritis can affect height. There are a lot of contributing factors. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is a person's best defense. Exercise is you best friend in that department.

Calcium defiency causes bones to shrink, also the cartilidge shrinks with age.

It is caused by osteoporosis. The bones get weak and the person starts to stoop.

If i am not mistaken it has to do with their bones or the cartilage wearing out in their joints.
