Because unlike soccer, when a player falls down it probably means someone else hit him, rather than just falling down in an attempt to draw a foul or card an opponent. Oh yeah, less head butts into opponent's chests (Zidane).

As a former player i can only wonder. I know it is difficult to understand if you only catch a glimpse of it in TV, but if you give it a fair chance you may get to understand why it is called the chess of the green. In the few seconds of action there is no time to breathe, yet there can be found tactics, game reading, moving to advantageous positions, setting other team`s players up, even waiting. And i can tell you it is hard work! Arduous training... I would understand if you said you do not like it but that it would be rubbish? Try it yourself, there are many more levels besides the NFL. Then you can judge it from your experience, not from prejudice.

well, until you give some reasons for your queston, i think that we will all just have to assume that you are not a sports fan at all, and as such know absolutely nothing about american football. i didn't think that an idiot could type in a straitjacket, but you have proved me wrong. american football requires strength, speed, athletic ability, and intelligence. that sure sounds like a good sport to me

The real question is why are you trolling here? Isn't
USENET a big enough pond to take your bait? If
you want some live ones, try rec.sport.football.college,
rec.sport.pro-wrestling, and some of the busier sports
newsgroups in terms of traffic. Please...if you want to
talk about trolling, fish in waters where the bait is more
lively.

As compared to your favorite sport? And what would that be, tag? Polo? Curling?? Perhaps you just don't understand it, my friend. It takes skill, strength, endurance, and team work. Oh, and don't forget strategy!
