Well, sometimes we are to blame...especially if we can cook and do cook for them :0) I had a fiance' once that was a picky eater (he had IBS ), he would REFUSE to eat anything but REAL mashed potatoes and had to have them with EVERY meal. Grant it when he was single, he barely ate them cuz ya know how time consuming they are to make when you're in a rush and most single guys will be content with popping something in the microwave or ordering in orrrrrr going to mom's house to eat. Well, needless to say, after the 1st 6 months of eating every meal with real mashed potatoes, he gained some weight. hahaha
Also, usually after the first 6 months of dating, the "newness" of a relationship wears off and the "impression" stage is ova...now the true colors of each person tend to start popping up. The lil things that were endearing are now becoming annoying :0/ Ppl get complacent and start relaxing more around each other. They figure a few extra pounds aren't much to think about, now that they have someone in their life that they're comfortable with. So the weight gain on either person could be taken as a complement to the other...it's proof the person feels comfy with the other...however, those few extra pounds tend to multiply (sometimes quite quickly) and eventually one or the other notice them and now the blame game starts :0)
My advise is...if you cook for your man...keep it healthy and balanced...also get his butt out doing stuff...going for walks, biking, roller blading....something to balance out your good cooking :0) Don't eva tell your man that he's getting fat...just as you would hate him telling you that you've gained weight, they hate it too. (yeah they got fragile egos too believe it or not) And if he still gorges himself, gains weight and still blames you for it, you can either enroll his butt in a gym for a Holiday gift (hahaha), or put his butt on a diet....cook smaller more healthier meals....oh and if he's a drinker (especially beer), you can toss in the tid bit of info that BEER MAKES PPL GAIN WEIGHT...thus the phrase beer belly.
For the most part, let his blame roll off your shoulders...like you said, HE is the one gorging himself. Take it as a complement...obviously he feels comfy enough with you to let himself go :0)
good luck

This does not sound like a gender based trait to me.
It's a trait you see in people who don't like to take responsibilty for their own actions - regardless of gender.

The premise of your question is not correct. It would be like asking someone, "So tell me do you still beat your wife?" For most men, the only possible response would be, "No. I don't beat my wife, and I never have;"

Nice try.
