I'm taking classes online for a second degree. My first one was at a traditional on-campus school. I find the online method easier for me since I live in a rural area and I work full time - the flexibility is wonderful. There are disadvantages though - you have to be very motivated, it is easy to slack off, there isn't the face-to-face that you get in an on-campus setting, which can lead to misunderstandings if you misread a message. A lot also depends on what you want to major in. There are a lot of fields where an on-campus education would be better and others where either will work. Really do your research ahead of time.

most schools don't accept financial aid. If you have a problem, you have to e-mail the professor and wait for them to e-mail you back and HOPE it helped. Motivation..must have lots of that..There is nobody daily to remind you to study. Some degrees are useless..meaning you have to move to another state or something to use them. Anytime you have a question about fees, etc. you have to call USUALLy long distance to ask..you can't just talk to them in person. No socialization..you can't study with others. If your computer messes up...you have had it...Public univ. have computer labs.

I would imagine that you don't get the same relationship with the professor (them knowing your learning style, etc.) as you would in a classroom.
