Hello,

No.

A USB attached drive has a limited throughput speed and will actually slow down your system while waiting for drive access. Also, 128 MB is too small for a paging file. Using a secondary hard drive (not a USB attached) is the best option

Maxing out your RAM will give you considerable performance improvement......with more available RAM, there is less paging and therefore better performance.

The most cost effective way of speeding up your computer is to increase the amount of ram. 1GB and you would see an incredible improvement.

I have never tried nor would I advocate the use of a memory stick for the paging file. Since your laptop has such a small amount of ram the USB interface is probably USB 1.1, which is slow anyway.

You could aways buy new laptop, there are some incredible deals around at the moment.

Flash drives are usually very slow and it's not advisable to have your page file on a flash drive. You want your page file on your fastest hard disk.

If you are looking to boost performance of your PC at low cost try adding more RAM.

Hard drives are generally faster than USB ram. A lot of people have drawers full of old SDRAM chips you might use.
