Am not sure how to answer your question, but its a well trained group of soldiers which would amount to not more than a thousand,as Jamaica has no need to be aggressive in a strong military way,no enemies no problems with neighbors. but the Jamaica defense force dose take part in policing in the inner city areas of Kingston(capital of Jamaica) and sometimes in Montego Bay when ever there is an emergency in crime fighting, in terms of patrols and just making up numbers for security reasons.
When compared to the Jamaica Police Federation which has over Eight thousand members it makes you wonder, well because crime is high in the inner cities of small areas, there is a need for a bigger police force than for soldiers.
But the country still maintains a well trained unit just in case of any emergencies, which could be from weather related to coastal patrolling for drug in the Jamaican waters.hope that helps.

The last time I was in Jamaica, I seemed to see a lot of the JD Guys defending the street corners( relaxing). Not a sign of any crims in sight !

Well, sure, you are correct. Once you are taking the Queen's shilling, you move in which She sends you. Your boyfriend could get an admin posting, however not anything that I am mindful of shows that the Royal Army will adopt to not ship a soldier in which his offerings could also be required. The factor to do is to touch a Royal Army recruiter and get know-how on elegant offerings within the occasion that your husband is deployed, and make your determination at the deserves.of the case.

If you are brave enough to go to Jamaica, be very careful. The crime rate in Jamaica is the highest of all of the Caribean islands. Very aggressive!
