My wife owns a Mac and I own a PC that I made myself. Without question the Mac and its OS-10 is 5 to 10 years more advanced than a PC. Note, that I did not say faster. You are wanting to know which is better. My wife's Mac has never crashed on her once and she has owned it for more than 8 months. It is also a sight to behold. She has the iMac G5 and it is the only computer that I have ever cast my eyes on, that I can say is a work of art. If however, you want to game then a PC is the only way to go unless you do not mind late software releases like you can get with a Mac.

First make a list of everything you don't like about a Windows-based computer.
Now, take that list to your nearest Apple retailer (you can find one on www.apple.com). The Apple retailer will be able to address all those concerns and more! Most things that people complain about when it comes to computers don't apply to Macs.
For example:
~Viruses
~Random turn-offs
~Required restarts
~Constant updates (really annoying if you have dial-up internet)
~Set-up time when you first get the computer
~Difficulty finding drivers for USB attachments (printers, cameras etc...)
Basically, everything you see in those Mac vs PC commercials is true.
I was VERY skeptical before I bought my Mac. If I had it to do over again, I would make the same decision a million times over.
A Mac is just a neat little machine, well worth the money. It is a computer without all the headache and frustration that comes with a Windows-Based machine! All the fun, without any of the hassle!

A mac is a pc. It is just another name for the apple computer. Anyways I dont think you should buy it, but if you do want to, the Macs made by Apple have a much better operating system even though its more costly than other Pcs which usually run Windows XP.

Apple hardware isn't that great, but the Mac OS is much better and easier to use than Windows. You can also put Windows on the new Intel Macs now with a free program Apple gives you called "Boot Camp" I do that with all the Intel macs at work and it's works very well.

There is no reason you have to buy a Mac instead of a PC, mac users do however rave about their macs, keep in mind that they are more expensive, are not nearly as upgradeable as pc's softwarewise and it is hard to find as many programs and applications as there are in windows,
