What if they're the same size?

In my experiance, dog poop is usually kinda flat, whereas cat poop is kinda cylindrical. If that doesn't work, look at the carpet around it. If it was the cat, they would have tried to bury it, so the carpet would be kinda frayed.

Usually the center of the poop is the color of their food.
So if the poop were cracked open so to speak, it would show the color of their food.

Usually I can tell that it is the dog's, because their food has a different color and consistency than the cat's.

Does the dog look guilty? Because the cat won't so you'll have to see if the dog gives anything away!

Check the poop very closely, somewhere on it will be a name tag.

Why does it matter? Just clean it up. Just kidding. If you want to find out for future reference. Just feed one of them corn. If you see that in the stool, you have your culprit.

dog usually drags his hind in to wipe leaving a nice streak.

Umm...dog poo usually smells worse, also if my cat does it usually rubs its rear end on the floor leaving a streak.
sooo annoying!

If you have a litter box then the cat didn't do it.
