We get a number of calls and no one says anything a number of times. It is most of the time automatic calling by telemarketing companies. When none is saying anything means either their system is malfunctioning or the caller is not working (just wasting time!). I do not think the police will ever do anything in 99% of the cities because for one, no crime is committed and two, they have a lot more work of solving rape, robbery, break-ins, domestic violence, traffic accidents, property crimes, social event manning and other jobs to go after.

the best thing to do is leave the phone aside, dont say a thing and see how long they stay on the other line. its costing them so they're the idiots wasting their money. if this happens a lot maybe you can try setting your phone to block unknown calls or depending on the noises, you should contact the police. this is a form of harassment and you shouldnt have to put up with it. police will be able to trace the call. good luck

No, you can't trace it (without the police) but you can block all callers who are designated "unknown" or "anonymous". They'll hear a recording when they call that something to the effect of, "This number does not accept callers who are not willing to identify themselves." You won't get any more of their calls.

Make a note of what times the calls are made, and keep a record for at least 2 to 4 weeks - then file a police report, the police can pull the phone records with numbers even if they are unlisted or hidden - and you can nail them for harassment charges (done this before myself).

I would call the police, they have devices (sp?) with which they can track down such phone-numbers, and then they consequently can take appropriate action.
Good luck.

The police won't do anything. You can't do anything so just change your number and only give it to people you trust not to give it out.
