I think it's his way of showing affection....I think it's sweet!
My husband kisses me on the forehead..same thing:o}
As for there being a psychological meaning, I don't think so, but if he's doing it when you wake-up, it could mean he's avoiding that yukky morning breath, but throughout the day means he want to kiss you properly, but don't want you to think 'I wanna jump your bones' kinda kiss, which may feel he's putting pressure on you to have full intimacy!!!?

I like it when a man does that to me, if it's in a cute and affectionate way, but occasionally it does come across as a little patronising. As if he's treating me more like a puppy than a person.
If you don't like it, just tell him. Otherwise don't worry.
