whay do the terms "sweet mate" and "safe" mean because i hear people use them but dont know what they mean especially in london

they both mean good
you also get sweet as a nut
safe as houses

Another take on sweet mate could be 'suite mate' which would be like a room mate. Someone you share your suite with. In college my room mate and I had suite mates, our rooms were connected by a common bathroom that the 4 of us shared. Not sure if this is the meaning but it is a thought. Not sure about 'safe', would have to see how it was being used in a sentence.

Here in Aussie land we say "sweet mate" which means more or less "no problems mate". "safe" would either mean "okay" or even "all's good".
I dont hear Safe as often as I hear sweet mate.
