Models are hired, sign releases, and are paid money for their work. The photos are then purchased by a distribution company that offers them for sale to various clients. The client buys the photos, often a batch on a disc, then designs a magazine layout using the photos. A writer then makes up a fictional caption or story to go with the photos. It's all made up. The models have no input whatsoever. The people in charge of the magazines mostly are men who create them solely to make a profit from poor saps who buy their publications to satisfy their sad fantasies.

Did you ever notice that these "stories" kind of cater to the perverted? I used to read letters to a certain mens magazine, and one was from a guy who would put tuna fish oil on his yahooties and squat above his aquarium, I wished he had a few pirhanas. I wonder if guys listen to "You're 16" and chew bubble gum while reading "Barely Legal."

Many are "made-up", but are fashioned after real life's stories.
