Well sure....your laptop won't get hurt by the TV....the hard drive is shielded and the x-ray level is soooo low from the CRT it can't penetrate more than 3 inches from the Picture.....

Now the TV can't be hurt by the laptop either....The magnetic field from the hard drive motor may extend out a maximum of 2 inches....that's it....that's all it can do.....

All these scary tales you hear about TVs and Laptops and Microwaves are really OVER-exaggerations of unique properties.....The TV's DE-Magnetizer and X-Ray output....the Hi Frequency and Magnetics of the Laptop....the Microwave's RF Power......ALL well contained by Underwriter's Laboratories and the FCC....

EVEN if they did go berserk, these machines just don't have the power to destroy other machines....

Can I prove to you that one would damage the other through scientific evidence? No. However, I would not do it. I am not a superstitious man but there are some things I will avoid and putting any sensitive electronic device right next to a TV is not one of them. TVs are putting out an incredible amount of voltage. Lap tops are just to fragile to take a chance with and I would be concerned about what the high voltage might do to your hard drive. On the other hand, you did not say if you had a LCD or plasma TV and I am unsure how high their voltage requirements are. Anyway, my thought is not to do it no matter what kind of TV you own.

It should be completely fine. but make sure there isnt a large amount of heat building up around there. Could lead to overheating of laptop. But i must stress that overheating rarely ever happens. but better to be safe
