Small coins are already obsolete. Many nations have already stopped using them. In the U.S. cents and nickels already cost more to make than they are worth. In the U.K., pound coins have replaced pound notes. Arguably, paper money and coins are already obsolete because being obsolete does not mean they are not being used, just that they are no longer the current technology, depending on the definition of obsolete.

In Canada the one and two dollar bills are nonexistent being replaced by coin Loonie and Toonie.Now its the five dollar bill that I am waiting for .
