In my younger years while raising a family, it was paycheck to paycheck. Now I have savings and it's a good feeling to have.

Most people live paycheck to paycheck, and although I do have a savings account, I'd have to say I do too. Americans are horrible about living beyond their means! We really don't NEED even a fraction of the stuff in our homes, but we can't stand the thought of people knowing we don't have it anyway.
So depressing *sigh.

The key is to live below your means as much as possible. My husband and I live off my salary, and save every penny of his salary. By doing this, we have accumulated 6 months worth of our expenses. If we ever have an emergency, it is good to know we have a cushion, even if it is small.

I don't live. I lurch from one financial crisis to the next one.
