Boston Red Sox!!!! The Yankees suck. The only reason they are any good is because they are rich and can buy any players they want.

I must give you guys credit, this question could be asked again in 3 days, and you'd get a similar volume of responses. Maybe we should ask the Yankees and the Redsox to donate a sum of money for each response to a worthy charity. I'm a midwesterner, and enjoy the debate over the best rivalry in all of sports. I'm not saying that Yankees / Redsox are #1, but I will say that everyone's energy sure helps make a case for it. ...cause isn't that what a great rivalry is really all about?
To specifically answer the question, as you can see from my screen name, I'm a Cub fan. I'm of the opinion that any "true" sports fan has a favorite, and every other team is the enemy; period. There really can't be a 2nd favorite, so I won't disparage between the Yankees and the Redsox.
Let the debating continue; keep up the solid energy. ;-)

I like the Yankees, and hate the Red Sox. As for the Yankees "stealing" Johnny Damon, they did not. They offered him a contract and he CHOSE to go to the Yankees, and fit in quite nicely.
Interestingly, the Red Sox have reportedly bid between $38 and $45 MILLION for Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, just for the rights to negotiate with him. If that's true and they do sign him it could cost well over $70 million once all is said and done. They could have re-signed Damon for much less. If this is true, Red Sox fans will have no right to criticize the Yankees for overspending or payroll anymore.

I hate both the Yankees and the Red Sox. They each pay a buttload for their teams and yet it still is not enough. The main reason I hate each team is their fans. I will start with New York. The fans think they are God's gift to the world and that they are better than any one else. They boo A-Rod and curse him after hitting 35 Home Runs and 121 RBIs. You are too spoiled to even know how good A-Rod is.
I can not stand Boston fans either. They think that everybody loves the Red Sox just because of the Yankees, but nobody likes them either.
The Sox fans complain about the Yankees payroll (SEE FIRST ANSWER OF QUESTION) when they are second highest payroll and that is only going up after they sign this Japenese pitcher.
I have heard from a High ranking MLB position that Red Sox fans are the worst of any fans in baseball.
I do not like either team and am glad to see each of them fail.

That is funny. I have been a life long Yankee fan and I hate the Red Sox. I use to really hate Johnny Damon. But when I heard he signed with the Yanks I was titckled to death. Last summer I met him before a game. He is now one of my favorites.

With out any reservation, I have like the Yankees since I moved into the Bronx way back in 1943 at age of nine. They were my everyday intertainment coming out of the speaker on the radio while I laid on the floor keeping score on my homemade score card. They were consistant winners, classy players and loved the game. No need to name the players, far too many and the cry of break up the Yankees only made me a better fan of the Yankees, baseball champions. Boston Red Sox, to this day that name only means, choke, choke, choke.

I respect the Red Sox with all my heart. I respect them for all of their 6 World Series wins, and the Red Sox have done lots and have accomplished lots during the past years. Don't take this personal or anything. Will all due respect for the Boston Red Sox, I am a die-hard Yankee fan.
Also, we didn't steal him. The Red Sox didn't have enough money to pay him because they didn't think that he was worth it, so they made him a free agent in the 2006 offseason. The Yankees HAD enough money to buy him.
GO RED SOX!!!
the yankees are better though

Yankees all the way!! You may not like them, but you've got to admit they have been THE team to beat for 75+ years... ;)
But good for the Sox for overcoming the curse of the Bambino though, right?! I just think they wanted to win way more than the Yankees did. Or maybe it was that they made that movie Fever Pitch.
It will be very interesting to see how the Sox do over the next couple of years... but I still hope the Yanks beam em!

I'm an Indians fan so I have to hate the Yankees. Nothing personal, but you always have to hate better teams and they have way more World Series wins than the Tribe.
