help needed on psp?

i brought a psp at a market . it came with mannalwhich states psp 1003. charger ect . when i brought it i was told that the lcd screen was cracked and would need replacing but i was also told that the seller beleved that the psp had come from us. My question is how can i tell if it is a us or uk psp and dose it matter . also i used to turn it on and the screen would light up and show the menu , ie game , music options. Tonight i tryed a film in it and it worked . But when i tried a game in it it started to load and then the screen went blank and after that i cant seem to get the screen to turn on again .the power light lights up but the screen stays black.i was told to charge it for 2 hours as the battery might of been low but now when charging all that happens is it starts of yellow and after 5 mins the light goes off . Then when i try to turn it on it stays green for a few minutes and then turns off. I hope someone can help me as i am ready to scream

If you go to can go to psp.com and choose Americas and register it. If that works then it is the US version. If you choose Europe and are able to register it then it is the EU version.

As far as charging it, it could be the battery is bad. You could try buying a new battery and charge it fully and see if that helps.
