The owner's manual is very vague about how to do this. It says to use a screw driver to release the lens on the light and then pull out the lamp socket and replace the lamp. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to release the front lens to allow me to get at the bulb.

it's very easy - look straight at it and you will see a small hole by the side of it along the trim. insert a long screw driver and feel for a tab. push straight in and the whole lens will pop out at you. then to install insert at an angle lining up other side tabs and snap it in. takes less than a minute for the whole procedure. german engineering.

It is a bit vague, but it's easier than you think. It might help if you use a small flashlight to look through the upper aperture to see the part you are pressing in to release the clip on the lens. The screw driver goes through the opening right next to the inside part of the lens. Push in the spring loaded clip on the side of the lens and it should come right out. The inside part of the lens is what releases from the lower aperture and then the rest of the lens unhooks when you swing it out. It will make more sense to you when you look through the opening next to the inside part of the lens on the upper aperture and see the side of the lens not visible from the front where the clip is.
